The Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs

  • Supervise all areas of Student Affairs
  • Work directly with Associated Students, Inc. to foster communication between and among student leaders and administrators
  • Administer the student conduct code delineated in Title V
  • Spearhead the Division's Strategic Plan and assessment process

Admissions & Outreach

  • Extensive informational presentations, individual meetings and workshops on admissions and financial aid, special programs, academic programs and campus tours

  • Maintain formal partnerships with high schools and community colleges

Associated Students, Inc.

  • Administration and allocation of mandatory student fees including funds for clubs and organizations
  • Serve as student government and student advocates
  • Recommend student representation on ASI and University Committees

Financial Aid

  • Provide counseling relative to financing education for students
  • Determine financial aid awards
  • Administer awards in the form of scholarships, grants, loans, and/or need-based employment

Global Education

  • A study abroad experience for every student who wants one
  • A large and geographically diverse population of international students and scholars
  • Strong partnerships with faculty and staff dedicated to comprehensive internationalization of the university

Health Center

  • Provides quality outpatient medical services to matriculated students who have paid the mandatory student fee with their tuition.
  • Maintains two campus locations to better serve the students.
  • Provides several walk-in services including: treatment for acute illness / injury, health education, immunizations, laboratory testing, pharmacy, testing and treatment for STI's, wart removal and X-ray.
  • Offers many services by appointment, such as: optometry, physical exams, therapeutic massage and women's annual exams.

Intercollegiate Athletics

  • Conduct a NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletic program which includes 20 men's and women's teams
  • Offer University courses in athletic conditioning and coaching

New Student Orientation Lassen Hall, 916-278-7841

  • Assist new students with their transition from high school or prior college as they prepare to enroll in Sac State courses.
  • Inform new students (and their parents) of university expectations regarding: graduation timeline, grade requirements and university policy and procedures.
  • Provide initial information on campus programs and services available to help students through their individual college experience.
  • Familiarize students and parents with the campus environment.

Student Athlete Resource Center

  • Provides Sacramento State Division I student-athletes with support in the areas of academic services; NCAA life skills; student-athlete development programs; NCAA rules compliance; and athletic-related financial services.
  • Serves as the primary office for mandatory academic and NCAA continuing eligibility advising for student-athletes and includes registration and new athlete orientation support.
  • Provides student-athletes various retention support with tutorial and student mentoring; computer lab access; academic progress monitoring; and inclusion in campus-wide student services programs and workshops.
  • Directs the NCAA and Big Sky Conference rules education programs; monitors all compliance-related athletic activities; and coordinates the certification of academic eligibility for all Division I student-athletes at Sacramento State.
  • Coordinates programs designed to enhance student-athlete welfare and development. This includes working with freshman programs, promoting alcohol & health education, and serving as a liaison to the campus NCAA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
  • Facilitates 5th-year and summer athletic scholarships and special NCAA scholarship programs such as 6th-year degree-completion and minority postgraduate scholarships.
  • Provides support to the Intercollegiate Athletics Department with the dissemination and interpretation of athletic-academic data such as the NCAA Academic Performance Rate and Graduation Rates reports.

Student Veterans Service Center

  • Ensure that student veterans and dependents have all payments of federal and state benefits certified to the Department of Veteran Affairs in a timely and accurate manner
  • Adapt to the changing needs of student veterans and enhance services to meet those needs
  • Provide a welcoming and inviting environment for veterans that helps ease their transition to college
  • Advocate for student veterans locally, regionally and nationally

Women's Resource Center

  • Promote gender equity through education, advocacy, and social action.
  • Increase the awareness and understanding of the contributions, opportunities, and barriers facing women in our society.
  • Offer educational programs on the issues of sexual assault, intimate partner violence, and hate crime.
  • Provide advocacy and support for victims/survivors of these crimes.
  • Offer dynamic programming and educational outreach to improve the campus climate for LGBTIAQQ students.
  • Advocate for the respect and safety of all members of the campus community.
